Interesting facts

  • Nuevo Leon is the State in Mexico with the highest attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (after Mexico City).  It has brought more than US $29 billion in the last eleven years, 11.6% of the Mexican Foreign Direct Investment. 
  • Third best city for the future (2011) according to the fDi Magazine of The Financial Times, as a result of the enormous FDI amount deployed in the State.  
  • Nuevo Leon created the most jobs in 2010 (77 thousand work spaces, according to the Mexican Institute of Social Services).  Only Mexico City beat this amount, having the largest concentration of people in the country. 
  • Monterrey is one of the best cities to study, work, invest, live and retire (Mundo Ejecutivo Magazine, June 2011).
  • Ten of the twenty most important multinational companies have their corporate offices in Monterrey: ALFA, CEMEX, DEACERO, FEMSA, GIMSA, PROEZA, GRUPO QUIMMCO, VILLACERO, VITRO and XIGNUX.  In addition, the city houses three of the finest universities in Latin America: Tec de Monterrey, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and Universidad de Monterrey.

In 2011, Monterrey hosted 131 events organized and managed by the Conventions and Visitors Office. No reports whatsoever where filed about difficulties experienced by tourists while at the event or touring the city.
